Our Board of Directors in the United States serves as advocates and ambassadors for the work of Help a Child. We aim to support Help a Child through donor communications, fiscal oversight, and long and short-term planning in the United States.

Andries Schuttinga

Andries Schuttinga, CEO, Red een Kind

Andries Schuttinga is the current managing director of Red een Kind in the Netherlands. In 2016 Red een Kind, through its local partner organizations, benefited more than 110,000 children in 11 countries in Africa and Asia through sponsorship programs, education, career training, HIV/AIDS prevention & patient care and emergency & disaster relief. More than 20,000 people, 574 churches, 139 schools, 175 businesses and 29 foundations make our work possible. Among their number are about 8000 sponsors who have contact with a child or family taking part in one of our programs.

 

 

Dr. Elizabeth Wachira

Dr. Elizabeth Wachira, HAC USA Board of Directors

Dr. Elizabeth Wachira is a “small town girl” living in a great big world that she desires to impact positively through everything she does. “Dr. E” is an Associate Professor and Public Health Program Director at Texas A&M University- Commerce, and co-Founder of the Youth Engagement Society whose vision is to engage, inspire and empower youth to live a life of fulfilled aspirations. She desires that everyone live a purpose-driven life where their passion and talents intersect to impact their community. Having navigated the challenges in discovering her purpose and authenticity, she strives to facilitate and celebrate this discovery for others.  True to her love for conversations and spaces that empower, her goal is to inspire honest, bold and authentic living. By facilitating conversations that tackle common self-discovery challenges in the streets called life, her Talks With E platform, youth talk sessions and Becoming book club aim to empower and celebrate those living life in a way that refuses being a replica and embraces originality boldly. When not teaching or working in the community, you can find her at a local coffee shop with a book in hand or at a thrift store hunting for the next hidden treasure.

 

Tiny Biewenga

Tiny Biewenga, HAC USA Board of Directors

Tiny joined Help a Child in the Netherlands in 2016. She has gained experience in both public affairs and fundraising for the organization for over five years. As part of the Management Team and currently heading the department Expertise and Innovation, she oversees the product and intervention development and management of Help a Child. She is a continuous advocate for innovation and quality within the organization.  Her role on the board is to coordinate the operations for Help a Child USA in relation to Help a Child internationally. Her passion is to continuously increase the number of children benefiting from Help a Child programs, to see them have a future with hope and dignity. Tiny has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and International Organization, a Master’s in ‘Religion, Conflict, and Globalization’, as well as a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Groningen.

Tiny lives in the Netherlands with her husband Jaco and two children.

 

Dr. Subodh Kumar

Dr. Subodh Kumar, HAC USA Board of Directors

Dr. Subodh Kumar blends Data Science and Missiology with Kingdom Purpose, bringing three decades of visionary leadership to global development work.  Dr. Kumar currently serves as Vice President of Monitoring, Research, Evaluation and Learning (MERL) at Compassion International, where he leads the stewardship of evidence, learning, and theological reflection to ensure Compassion’s programs align with its mission and maximize impact in releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.  Dr. Kumar has leveraged his Master’s in Statistics and Doctorate in Missiology to become a transformational force in international development. His expertise spans advanced statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and AI/ML applications, but what sets him apart is his ability to weave theological insights into data-driven solutions that create both spiritual and social transformation. 

Dr. Kumar has served as Chief Data Officer at World Vision International, and Senior Vice President of MERL, Data for Good, Innovation and Theology and also as Vice President Mission Impact at Food for the Hungry. His board memberships include the Accord Network, India Partners, and various USAID steering committees.  As a published author and transformational speaker, Dr. Kumar continues to inspire leaders worldwide to embrace data-driven decision-making while maintaining unwavering commitment to Christian values.
