Board Member Vacancy

Are you passionate about making a difference and bringing your networking and fundraising experience to a mission-driven organization?  Then we would like to hear from you.  We are seeking a committed, mission-aligned individual to join our Board of Directors with expertise in networking and fundraising. This is a voluntary position for someone excited about using their professional skills to support global child development in a Christ-centered organization.

 

Volunteer Board Member – Networking & Fundraising Expertise
Commitment: Approx. 4–6 hours per quarter
Term: 3 years, renewable

About Us
Help a Child USA is a Christian 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the U.S. affiliate of Help a Child International (also known as Red een Kind), which was founded in the Netherlands in 1968. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, we are committed to serving children and families in need by demonstrating love, mercy, justice, and responsible stewardship.

Our vision is that every child will thrive and realize their potential, regardless of social, political, religious, ethnic, or economic background. Help a Child USA exists to celebrate and amplify the work of our parent organization by engaging U.S. donors and partners in support of community-based development initiatives across Africa and Asia. Through this collaboration, we promote sustainable change via programs in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Community Empowerment, Disaster Response, Child Protection, Food Security, and Livelihoods.

About the Role
Key Responsibilities

Board members are expected to:

  • Provide input on strategic decisions, policies, and organizational direction.
  • Review board materials and financials ahead of quarterly meetings.
  • Advocate for the mission, contribute to donor engagement, and support fundraising strategy.
  • Leverage personal and professional networks to expand Help a Child USA’s reach.
  • Engage in learning about our focus regions (India, East and South of Africa).
  • Uphold Child safeguarding policy, Christian values and affirm the Statement of Faith.
  • Advise and support the Executive Director and staff leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrate passion for child development and international service.
  • Committed Christian affirming our Statement of Faith.
  • Experience in nonprofit management, development, education, or ministry.
  • Availability to attend quarterly board meetings.
  • Clean legal and ethical record.

Preferred:

  • Possess nonprofit board or leadership experience.
  • Have expertise in nonprofit law, fundraising, or one of Help a Child’s program areas.
  • Familiarity with African and South Asian cultures.
  • Proven leadership and donor network connections.
  • Commitment to diversity, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
